Grandpa Gram

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Dear Grandpa,

I love you and miss you. It's been 16 months to the day since I've seen you; hope to see you soon. We are saving up and planning to come visit next Christmas; hope the days go by faster then the hours do when I think of you.

I will never forget all the times I've spent with you. I'm sure I will never forget any of the times to come. I am so glad I can say with all honesty that you are the best grandpa there is to have. Everything about you, besides your health which breaks my heart to think about, is perfect.

You made being a kid fun, growing up bearable. I hope so badly that you can be there for my kids too. I know they will love you just as much as everyone that knows you does. I pray they are so blessed to have you close in their life and in their hearts. That will make me the happiest mother in the world.

Grandpa, you are such a fighter; such a smiler. You are so kind to all who breathe. Making friends is second nature to you, like making toast in the morning. You go all out for anyone who asks; you always think of them before yourself. When building my relationships I strive to emulate you. When facing battles and struggles I say to myself, "Grandpa went through that, I can go through this."

Through those trials that famous smile of yours never disappears. Your positive attitude is my light in the darkness of despair. And your humor is wonderful. You make me laugh without even meaning too. Your mannerisms, the way you pronounce things, oh how I wish we lived closer together. How I wish I could see you and speak to you every day for the rest of your life.

I hope you are saving up your very best and funniest stories to tell me when we do see each other again. I hope you will be ready to beat my butt at poker and make home-made tutti fruity ice cream for me. I hope you have some pecans shelled and bagged for me.

Please lets go camping and sit under the stars in front of a fire and roast marshmallows. Lets go on walks and get lost for hours while you point out all the deer and snakes that I would never have seen. Lets spend every second together that we can, while we can.

Love you Grandpa,
Katie
