Size or quality??

Wednesday, February 3, 2010

I want to get your opinion... I've been saving up to buy a new set of pots and pans and it's finally time. I've done my research and choose a brand. What I need help with is this: which is more important, size or quality? There is a set with the perfect sizes for me, but it's an older set meaning the other sets are more updated and even dishwasher safe.

Is it worth forfeiting the perfect sizes to get a little better quality???

Quality is always the most important, in my opinion!

What good is "the perfect size" if it's not going to last?

My husband thinks so...he cooks I do not very often ha ha

Hey, I am following you through FF. I know I am almost a week late, but better late than never they say. I would love for you to come by and follow back as well! Juliana from A Blonde Walks Into A Blog. (Check out my giveaways while you are there!)

I would go for quality...you can always pick up a pan or two that IS the right size down the road. :)

Quality is number 1, and the most important is to have the bottom of the pan come in contact with the surface of your burner at all points or it will not heat well. As far as size, just make sure the bottom of your pan is not much smaller than the burner or overly large for the burner. Both states will impact on your cooking and use of energy. Good luck on your search. We like T-Fal.

I would go with quality. If you buy a cheap set you may just have to keep replacing it and that may be more expensive in the long run.

My husband swears by All-Clad. He's really the one that enjoys cooking.

Q.U.A.L.I.T.Y!!! For sure! We got a lot of perfectly sized pans for our wedding and they are disgusting now, not to mention most of them bit the dust long ago. My in-laws spent a lot more on theirs and the quality difference is just incomparable! Happy shopping! :)

Quality is much better.
Enjoy!

Definitely go with quality! Who cares how many pots and pans you have if they are just mediocre!

Quality, definitely.

I have slowly invested in Le Creuset and love them! Even when a little worn, they're charming and functional.

More updated doesn't always necessarily mean better quality. If you're SURE the set is better quality, then go for quality. But if you're just basing that on them being more recent...they may not be better, and the perfect sized ones might be a better bet.

Look, do you want to be stuck with a pan that lasts FOREVER when it's not the right size? Never having a skillet big enough will drive you NUTS and since you went for the quality pan, you're stuck with it for 20 years. Yelch. If you can't find something nice quality in the right size, go for the right size. You're going to use them everyday. It will be irriaiting to you on a DAILY basis. And maybe when they have worn out, there will be a high quality brand makes them in the correct sizes. Am I right or am I right?

Happy SITS Saturday!

I would look around until I found something that was a quality & size that I was happy with... but then I don't think I'm tooooo fussy about size of pans, as long as I have some big ones and some little ones!

Quality, but don't worry so much about them being updated, dishwasher safe, etc. I am a cooking junkie [wanted to be a chef, until I realized the long hours & low pay wouldn't work with the family/lifestyle I wanted even more], and have tried some expensive cookware, but keep going back to basic stainless steel & copper, cast iron, and one good nonstick omelet pan.

I would go with quality... DH and I have gone through 2 sets of crappy pots and pans since we have been together, and we finally got a nice set, the Rachel Ray pans and I wish we would have done this to start!

Stoppin' by from SITS!
