I'm featuring myself today on TTB. Writing that post brought up so many memories. I want to get a few more of them out....
Ever since I can remember, until the summer I went off to college, my family and I have visited my GG (great grandma) for the 4th of July. Those trips are some of the most detailed joyous memories I have.
I can't think about them, or ever write about them without being overwhelmed with tears. I miss that time. I miss that place. I miss that women.
She was stubborn, proud, confident, she liked attention. She insisted that her little 4 oz glass was indeed 8oz. and that she was drinking plenty of grape juice each morning, "it's good for your heart you know". She was faithful and honest. She was the best crocheter in the world, CONSTANTLY working on something. She worked so hard in fact that her fingerprints almost wore off.
She was a great cook too, my favorite was her chicken and dumplings. Even at 80 years old she could stand up from the couch without any hands (and she always showed us how). She was a trooper. Even after her husband died she kept living for twenty years (something I always admire, I would probably die within a few hours). I loved how she talked about him. She would always mention how strong and handy he was. How much she missed him. I'm glad they are together now.
Anyways happy 4th of July!! And come back tomorrow I'll be hosting my first ever TTB giveaway!!

So neat to hear about your fond memories of your GG. I had a grandma GG too. It took me a long time to realize that "GG" wasn't her actual name!
Hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th!
I love stories about family members. This was great.
Hope you are having a good weekend.
Visiting from SITS. Happy 4th of July!
Oh, now I'm really missing my grandma's! That was a really beautiful tribute to her though. I kind of believe that when we honor our passed loved ones down here it gives them something extra to brag about up there!
Warmest hugs,
Jan

Sounds a lot like summer times with my grandma.
