Friend Makin' Monday

With all the 'last minute' things I'm STILL putting off I hardly qualify for this week's topic, but I'll give it my best shot. Here are few everyday, little tips that I use to make my life easier.

Laundry: This is a big thing for me. I kind of obsess over finding the best method. So far it's this - I have two laundry hampers, one for darks and one for lights. Each basket holds one load so when the basket fills up I know it's time to do the laundry. As soon as the dryer goes off I toss the clothes back in their hamper and take it to the closet. I take the clothes out one by one and either hang them up or fold them and place them on the floor in front of the doorway. In order to leave the closet I must pick my folded clothes up and put them away. I also keep a chair in the closet so I can sit down instead of give up if my back hurts.

Cleaning: I keep my kitchen clean, even when cooking. I hardly ever have more than a few dishes in the sink. And I use a scrubby brush instead of stinky rags or sponges. I also (usually) sort my mail and pay my bills right when I bring them in the door. I find that keeping up with messes and cleaning them as they are happening practically eliminates them - taking a ton of stress away. I also stick my husband on bathroom duty, he is one the who pees in the dark after all.

Eating: Even though it's not the healthiest, I like to keep easy meals around for when I just don't feel like cooking. That way my husband still gets feed and I don't feel like the worst wife ever. My big thing is burritos. I make two kinds and freeze them. Hubby likes the ones with beef, onions, kidney beans, corn and canned tomatoes. I also ALWAYS keep around my water bottle (full of water and lots of ice). It helps those munchies go away by keeping my mouth occupied.

I love the idea about keeping a chair in the closet to put things away. Unfortunately, I don't have room to do this... so I think I'll just make the owners of the clothing do it. Great tips on cook and freeze dinner.

Love your blog :) I try to keep the kitchen sink as free of stuff as possible...I just don't like that kitchen/sink area cluttered and dirty.

Have a great Monday!

I do my best to keep the sink cleared out, but I'm always amazed at how quickly it gets stacked up. It seems to happen overnight!

Oh, such lovely ideas - especially keeping the kitchen clean and keeping ahead of the messes. . . it's just so darn hard with 5 mess-makers in the house (I include my husband in this category. :)) Thanks for the tips!

I'm totally with you on the clean kitchen! I like to clean as I go so I don't have this big mess to ruin my enjoyment at the end of my bake-fest. :)
