Negative Nancy no more

Sunday, March 22, 2009

The first 'not so happy' post I made was on March 8. It felt good**** to get some things out and people didn't hate me for it.* Since then I've been tempted to include something negative in every other post I write. I even had to delete a few post (I hate that deleted posts can still be read in Google Reader don't you?!**) because they contained nothing positive.

On that dreadful*** 8th of March I opened a can of worms which I would like to seal back up. This blog was made to be sunshiny and bubblegummy. My life is good. I want to share that goodness with others, not make them feel sad or mad or anything else on my account.

I know there are people out there who read my blog, some who even comment. That**** makes it hard not to speak my mind, to fish for complements, answers, acceptance and understanding.

But I am determined to stop. From now on if you read a post of mine that contains anything negative (see asterisk exhibits) please leave a terible comment. Somthing like "I can't belive you katie. I found five negative comments in this post. Tsk. Tsk." or "If I knew you in person I would have to throw three rocks at you cause that's how many negative comments you have included in this post."

*Exhibit A: Assuming people will hate me is not very positive now is it. A tricky thing to catch but still negative.

**Exhibit B: This statement, even though in parentheses, is a negative one. I tend to use parentheses to hid the fact that the statement is negative.

***Exhibit C: 'Dreadful' is a very negative word indeed; such words often make there way into my posts without me even realizing it.

****Exhibit D. Making up excuses is not a sunshiny thing to do.

I am convenced that getting such comments will help me rid this negative phase out of my system. So please help.

Thanks in advance,

You're making me giggle! And hey -- you don't know how good you have it until you remember some of the icks. Riding the high all the time turns the high into ... normal. I'm in the midst of embracing that theory wholeheartedly myself ;)

You are funny. A teeny bit of negative is therapeutic, I feel. A lot is bad!

Hi! I found your site through SITS and I have never seen it before but I honestly think you are being too hard on yourself!! Life isn't always happy and by blogging about negative things you are basically releasing them and then more than likely you won't be unhappy anymore! Don't be too hard on yourself! And your blog is adorable!

Haha! I like the suggested intervention measures!

It IS nice to get some things off your mind but it can be easy to fall into a negative routine. Complaining and ranting is easy after all! So I can see your point of not wanting to go there. Hopefully you can balance it...with our help of course. ;)

Personally I can't stand the way some people project rainbows and butterflies into their lives at every single waking moment...I like negative every once in awhile (unless you are me - I am more negative then positive) It shows you are human...Your blog is awesome!
